Chapter: 277
Exhausted, he slumped in the minibus seat, breathing a sigh of relief as if his life depended on it.
As darkness fell, Owen's anxiety about his future mounted.
With Alan openly hostile towards him, he wondered if Shawn would continue to offer protection.
The more he dwelled on his uncertain fate, the more agitated he grew.
"What did Mr. Murphy say? Where should I hide?" Owen asked, his voice tinged with panic.
The man in the passenger seat turned to face him, a sneer playing on his Lips.
"He instructed us to take you where you need to be. Just relax," the man said coldly.
Owen, catching the icy look in the man's eyes, felt a chill run through him and broke out in a cold sweat.
Something felt amiss.
"Mr. Murphy promised me some money and a ticket abroad," Owen protested.
“Just keep quiet. We'll be there soon," the man responded with growing impatience.
Looking out the window, Owen noticed they had entered a desolate wasteland.
After a tense ten-minute drive, the vehicle came to a stop.
As the car halted, Owen's heart raced, and he began to panic.
"Why did you stop the car? What do you want from me?"
Owen's questions fell on deaf ears as several men abruptly dragged him out of the car.
"I've found the perfect spot for you. Save any complaints; I'm just following orders. Sorry about this."
Before Owen could respond, darkness took him, and he slumped to the ground, unconscious.
Meanwhile, at a coffee shop, Ashley had just finished meeting with clients. She headed toward a secluded private room down a long corridor, her steps silent. The fear that the unpredictable Owen might confront her again weighed heavily on her mind.
Upon opening the door, Ashley saw Shawn's assistant waiting inside.
A wave of relief washed over her as she inquired, "What brings you here?"
Without waiting for an answer, she took a seat.
The assistant met her gaze with a neutral expression. “Mr. Murphy sent me with some good news for you."
Ashley leaned forward, intrigued. "What news?"
