Chapter: 282
Did he really just let it go?

After lunch, they returned to the studio in silence.

Kaitlin sensed something was amiss but said nothing.

Her unease was confirmed the following morning.

Upon waking, Kaitlin received a distressing message from Phoebe.

"I'm sorry, Kaitlin. I can't make it. I had a car accident. But don't worry. I'm fine."

A photo of the damaged car accompanied the text.

Kaitlin rubbed her forehead in frustration. She had no option but to advise Phoebe to handle the situation and attend her appointment alone.

As she descended the stairs, a voice called out from behind her.

Turning, she saw Alan approaching. Her expression darkened with suspicion.

“The accident with Phoebe wasn't my doing," he quickly said.

Alan knew what Kaitlyn was thinking, so he clarified before she could say anything.

"Really?" Kaitlin asked, her eyebrows arching in skepticism.

“Of course," Alan responded, nodding firmly.

He opened the passenger side door for her, ushered her into the car, and drove her to the hospital.

Throughout the journey and even at the hospital, Alan was exceptionally attentive.

Other expectant mothers looked on with envy, their gazes shifting between Kaitlin and their own partners with a mix of resignation and irritation.

"Look at him, then look at yourself," one woman muttered to her husband.

Kaitlin couldn't help but smile. Soon, it was her turn for the prenatal checkup.

The wait for the results seemed interminable, but relief washed over her when the doctor confirmed the baby was healthy.

"You should take good care of yourself and ensure you're getting enough nutrition. And no staying up late," the doctor advised.

With the doctor's guidance fresh in mind, Kaitlin and Alan left the hospital together.

A full day had elapsed, yet Ashley found herself unable to procure the file on the suburban project. This left her feeling increasingly anxious.

Meanwhile, Shawn called to inquire about the progress.
