Chapter: 37
Kaitlin let out a relieved breath. "I'll grab my bag. Meet me at the door?"
"Sure."
As she swung the door open, she was greeted by Phoebe's eager gaze.
"Kaitlin, is this a date? Go on, I've got the work covered."
Kaitlin blushed slightly. It wasn't a date, but Phoebe's insinuation felt too forward.
"Hey there, handsome! I'm Kaitlin's best friend. Don't worry, I'll handle everything here and let you two be. Enjoy your date!"
Phoebe threw her best friend a wink and retreated with the assistant to continue their tasks.
Kaitlin, a mix of helplessness and embarrassment coloring her tone, reassured Quintin. “Don't take her seriously. She's just teasing.”
"It doesn't bother me," Quintin replied with a smile. "I'll be right outside."
Bag in hand, Kaitlin stepped outside to find Quintin casually leaning against a sleek luxury car, beckoning her over "Hop in." He courteously held the door open for her.
Kaitlin hesitated, eyeing the vehicle. "This car..."
Quintin shrugged. "Oh. I'm just renting it to experience a bit of luxury."
Kaitlin chose not to probe further, and the two made their way to the restaurant.
Despite the early hour, the place was bustling with diners, a testament to its popularity.
They found a table quickly, and Quintin's spirits lifted as he surveyed the lively scene.
“Getting a table here must be tough, huh?"
"Yeah," Kaitlin replied.
Their conversation flowed easily as they dined, as if this wasn't their first meeting at all.
Elsewhere in the restaurant, Lilliana arrived with her friend, her mood souring at the sight of the crowd.
"It's too crowded and noisy here," she whined.
"Don't worry, I've booked us a table," her friend assured, gripping her arm. “The food's excellent. You'll see."
Skeptically, Lilliana took her seat, but her attention was soon captured by an unexpected sight-Kaitlin, laughing heartily with an unfamiliar, rather handsome man.
Quick to snap a photo, Lilliana sent it to Alan with a scathing message.
“Look at Kaitlin, already with a new boyfriend. Can you believe it?"
