Chapter: 401
Kaitlin knocked at the door and leaned in, listening intently, but heard no sounds from within.

At that moment, a secretary approached.

"Miss Gilbert, Mr. Hewitt is not at the office today," she informed Kaitlin politely.

A frown crossed Kaitlin's face. "Where is he then?"

"He's gone to the hospital. I hear that his grandma is sick," the secretary responded.

She was relaying secondhand information as Alan hadn't told her anything.

Kaitlin simply nodded, choosing not to inquire further.

She headed straight to the hospital Beth frequently visited. On her way, she contemplated if the scandal had strained Alan's relationship with his Beth.

After all, it had hit the headlines, completely exposing the deep secret they had tried to bury.

Upon reaching the hospital, Kaitlin was directed to Beth's ward.

Dylan stood guard at the ward's entrance while Alan and Beth were alone inside. The corridor was eerily silent, and nobody knew what was going on in the room.

"Miss Gilbert, what brings you here?" Dylan asked.

"Is Beth ill? How is she doing?" Kaitlin asked, her brow furrowed with concern.

Through the ward's door window, she caught a glimpse of Beth lying on the bed.

It had been a while since Kaitlin last saw her, and now, Beth appeared frail and worn, as if recovering from a severe illness.

“She's stable for now, just very weak and in need of rest," Dylan assured her.

“How long have they been in there?" Kaitlin questioned further.

Dylan glanced at his watch.

“About ten minutes, but... it seems they haven't really been talking," he said.

Kaitlin's eyebrows arched in surprise. Were they just sitting in silence the entire time?

"I'll go in and check on them," she said.

After a moment's hesitation, Dylan stepped aside, allowing her entry.

Kaitlin pushed the door open without knocking, wearing a gentle smile.

"Beth, how are you feeling?" She greeted Beth warmly.
