Chapter: 407
"This started as a Hewitt family issue, but it has since escalated, severely tarnishing our company's reputation. I don't think it's wise for Mr. Alan Hewitt to be seen in public under these circumstances."
Alan fixed a cold stare on the speaker, who quickly averted his gaze and fell silent.
The room descended into an ominous quiet, the attendees taken aback by the bold confrontation.
Miguel flashed a grin and seized the opportunity to talk.
"I think that's a reasonable idea. It's clearly inappropriate for Mr. Alan Hewitt to lead the company at the moment since he is entangled in the scandal. Perhaps it's best if he takes a break for a while until everything settles down."
There was an undeniable audacity in Miguel's statement-he was the mastermind behind the so-called scandal.
Now, in front of all the shareholders, he proposed suspending Alan.
His motives were transparent, and everyone in the room could see through his ploy.
Glances were exchanged among the crowd, yet nobody dared to openly agree with him.
Alan's response was a laugh tinged with indignation. He had long understood Miguel's shamelessness and wasn't caught off guard.
“You're suggesting I be suspended?" Alan snorted.
Miguel merely raised his eyebrows, signaling his agreement.
"The Hewitt Group is brimming with talent. Your temporary absence won't hinder the company's operations. Use this time to contemplate your actions," Miguel suggested.
The tension between Alan and Miguel escalated as they locked eyes, the atmosphere charged with hostility.
Alan diverted his gaze and said in a professional tone, "Miguel, now that you've held a board meeting and requested my suspension, let's hear from the major shareholders. How about we have them raise their hands to cast their votes?"
"Okay," Miguel replied, his voice filled with assurance.
Yet, the outcome of the vote was a disappointment for him. The individuals he had persuaded beforehand all abstained from voting!
Miguel glared at them in frustration.
Alan, however, was not surprised by the outcome. Miguel had hoped to use the board to oust him, but that plan was doomed to fail. What a foolish move.
“Is there anything else you wish to add?" Alan looked at Miguel with a mix of scorn and disgust.
Miguel clenched his teeth, unable to utter a single word.
Noticing his frustration, Alan grinned contentedly.
He hoped Miguel would step up this time, yet he remained like a clown that he always was.
“Seeing as you've run out of things to say, we might as well end this now."
