Chapter: 71
He made arrangements for Lilliana to be moved out of his residence.
He secured an apartment for her and found her a regular job.
Despite her efforts to reach out, Alan consistently rebuffed her.
Since things weren't unfolding as Lilliana had envisioned, she had to resign herself to accept the situation for the time being.
Meanwhile, Alan's life seemed increasingly off-kilter since his divorce from Kaitlin. Her aloofness only compounded his distress.
He struggled to contact her. On the rare occasions he did, she was indifferent and distant. Even during his illness, Kaitlin seemed indifferent, likely harboring resentment towards him in private.
The more he dwelled on these thoughts, the more his frustration grew.
Alan couldn't understand why thoughts of Kaitlin haunted him when his heart was meant for Ashley.
At last, he resolved to stop overanalyzing and follow his emotions.
He yearned to reunite with Kaitlin.
Since apologies had failed, he planned to win her affection through persistence.
Relinquishing his company duties, Alan delegated tasks and began appearing at Oasis Studio daily to pick Kaitlin up after work.
Initially, Kaitlin paid him no mind. Over time, however, even the studio employees couldn't help but talk about it.
“Mr. Hewitt is going all out to win Ms. Gilbert back, though she doesn't seem to care."
"I'd love to have someone in a luxury car pick me up daily!"
"Ms. Gilbert's beauty is undeniable. No wonder he's so smitten."
Hearing the whispers, Phoebe silenced the room with a stern glance, then walked into Kaitlin's office to peer out at Alan's car.
“Kaitlin, what's with Alan these days? Is he serious about getting back together?" Phoebe inquired.
Pausing her work, Kaitlin replied nonchalantly, “If he's willing to wait, let him. Just ignore him as if he wasn't there.”
Phoebe chuckled in agreement, “Exactly, let him wait. A guy like that doesn't change overnight. He's Likely just putting on an act."
Kaitlin chose to stay late at work tonight. She had a stack of files to go through and deadlines to meet for client submissions.
Quintin lingered as well, his intense gaze caught on the luxury car outside that remained parked the entire evening.
He sipped his coffee before heading to Kaitlin's office.
“Do you need any help?" he offered.
