Chapter: 97
Once they were in the hall, Alan instructed someone to take care of Miguel, his expression as cold as ever.
As the main characters made their entrance, the crowd surged forward to welcome them.
Kaitlin, however, stayed put, too indifferent to mingle and even edged toward the corner to stay out of Beth's sight.
Lilliana did likewise, having clashed with Beth at the mall previously, she kept her distance.
The two women found themselves secluded in a lounge corner, exchanging cold stares.
Quintin didn't join them. Instead, he seemed captivated by the man in the wheelchair, choosing to stay and observe.
Lilliana fluttered her freshly applied eyelashes, causing Kaitlin to shiver.
“Don't try to charm me," she snapped.
Lilliana's expression darkened. "You act so superior, Kaitlin, but I see you hovering around Alan every chance you get."
“I'm here strictly for business," Kaitlin retorted. “From your get-up, it seems you're here to perform. So, what's the act tonight?"
Kaitlin couldn't help but smile as she watched Lilliana's expression sour.
"You!" Lilliana exclaimed.
"What about me? No need to put on a facade here, just say what you want to say." Kaitlin's grin grew broader; she puzzled by how Lilliana had once swayed Alan so easily.
Clearly, it was a lapse in Alan's judgment.
Without a word, Lilliana's glare intensified. She grabbed a glass from a nearby table and hurled it to the floor, shattering it.
Not satisfied with just one, she smashed a few more glasses, quickly turning the floor into a sea of shards.
Kaitlin furrowed her brow and stepped back, wary of the glass shards that threatened to slice her skin.
She watched Lilliana's frantic movements and arched her eyebrows.
Something was definitely amiss.
As Kaitlin reached for the door to leave, Lilliana suddenly burst into tears.
Turning around, Kaitlin saw her slap herself fiercely across the face.
Before she could intervene, people began to gather.
“What's going on here?"
“Why is she crying? Did you two have a disagreement in the lounge?"
