Chapter: 1011
Otherwise, there was no way Nikolas would have lost contact with her!
By midnight, worry had overtaken Aimee and she could no longer stay put. She grabbed her phone and drove to every police station along the route from the hospital to the Bates Group headquarters.
"Excuse me, were there any car accidents reported on this road yesterday afternoon?"
“No! Who are you looking for?"
“No one. Thank you for your help!"
Despite her thorough search, Aimee found no clues.
She considered calling Nikolas' parents but hesitated due to the late hour...
It didn't seem right to disturb them in the middle of the night.
Moreover, if Nikolas had gone to his parents' house, there was no reason for him to turn off his phone.
Aimee believed he should have at least sent her a message.
And even if his phone was broken, he could have borrowed someone else's to call her!
Just as Aimee was about to return to Nikolas’ villa to check, his number flashed on her phone screen and it began to ring.
She slammed on the brakes and pulled over.
"Hello?"
"Aimee."
At the sound of his voice, Aimee's eyes welled up with tears. "Where have you been? Do you have any idea how worried I was?"
Nikolas seemed taken aback by her sharp tone. After a pause, he answered in a flat voice, "My phone died, and I forgot to charge it."
“Wasn't there anyone around you could borrow a phone from?" Aimee's voice was harsh, her emotions heightened by a sleepless night.
“Nikolas, stop making excuses! You just didn't want to contact me, did you?"
These reasons were nothing but Lies!
But strangely, Nikolas didn't argue.
Aimee could hear the flick of a lighter; he was probably smoking.
As she was about to speak again, Nikolas cut in.
"Aimee, there's something I need to tell you."
