Chapter: 1040
“Nikolas, I don't want to be a stepmother."
A single sentence felt like a vast chasm between them.
They could only gaze at each other, knowing they could no longer be together.
"I see."
"Goodbye."
Aimee bowed her head and walked away. Uncertain of her destination, she simply hailed a taxi.
As the taxi pulled away, she resisted the urge to look back at Nikolas.
"Miss, where to?"
"Just drive, loop around at Cermon Road, then return here."
The driver caught Aimee's eye in the rearview mirror, sighed, and accelerated.
Leaving the hospital, Aimee couldn't hold back her tears anymore.
Once the first tear fell, others rapidly followed.
Alone, Aimee allowed herself to cry without restraint.
The driver, seeing her distress, silently offered her a tissue. “Here, wipe your tears."
“Thank you."
Aimee's sobs punctuated her tears.
The car drove on, completed the circuit, and returned to Central Hospital.
Nikolas had left; his car was nowhere to be seen.
Before she stepped out, the driver handed her more tissues.
"Miss, stop crying. He's not worth your tears."
“Alright, thank you."
Aimee accepted the tissues and made her way back to the gynecology department of Central Hospital.
"Hello, I need to schedule an abortion."
