Chapter: 148
Bethany sighed and replied, “Don't worry. He's way out of my league. There's no chance for us. I know that for sure.”

After that, Bethany got up and poured herself a glass of water. When she checked her phone again, Aimee's reply shocked her so much that she almost dropped the glass.

"Don't tell me it's Mr. Bates."

Bethany knew she wasn't good at hiding things or telling lies.

Fearful of giving herself away, she simply didn't respond.

In the evening, Brody approached Bethany and handed her the car keys.

"You can head to the airport now. There's enough time. Just take it easy."

"Now?" Bethany was caught off guard.

Wasn't it supposed to be Tuesday?

“We've got some work issues. Mr. Bates is coming a day early. Hurry; the drive will take a while."

Brody rushed off before Bethany could say a word.

Bethany reluctantly agreed to take on the task.

On her way to the airport, Bethany comforted herself with the thought that Jonathan wouldn't be traveling to Canbidge alone.

He always had his assistant and Maddie with him. Since they had gone to Watimere together, he should have them by his side this time too.

Knowing Maddie would be with Jonathan meant Bethany wouldn't have to interact with him.

Preparing herself mentally, Bethany parked the car and entered the bustling reception hall.

In the midst of the crowd, Jonathan stood out clearly.

Dressed sharply in a black suit, his shirt and tie neatly pressed, he exuded an aura of poise and calmness, even as he casually rolled up his sleeves.

Bethany couldn't tear her eyes away from Jonathan.

Her hand instinctively went to her chest.

Her heart raced with a mix of emotions.

Soon, Jonathan spotted Bethany and went towards her with long strides.

As he closed in, Bethany felt a sudden urge to run away.

He was by himself. No one had accompanied him.
