Chapter: 163
The doctor had said that she was suffering from trauma after the kidnapping. The only way to treat her was to let her rest as much as possible, and to not stress her out too much by going against her wishes.

Jonathan hesitated over Maddie's message for a long while before deciding not to respond.

After a while, Brody knocked on the door. "Mr. Bates, what can I do for you?"

“Add Bethany's name to the signatures of this project," Jonathan instructed.

“Got it!" Brody replied, genuinely pleased for Bethany.

Although Bethany was a newcomer, she worked hard without complaining.

She had proven herself to be diligent and faultless in all of her projects, so it was logical to add her name.

"Make sure she is well taken care of and that her record remains spotless," Jonathan emphasized. He now had to focus on his preparations.

It was not enough for him to get close to Bethany; he had to encourage her get close to him as well.

"I understand, Mr. Bates."

If Brody hadn't called her three times in a row insisting that she come down for dinner, Bethany would have just eaten some bread and kept working.

As soon as she arrived at the restaurant, she saw Brody approaching with a smile.

"I have some good news. Want to hear it?"

“Of course."

"Mr. Bates said that you can sign your name on this project."

Bethany was perplexed. She couldn't understand Jonathan at all. Since he had left abruptly just now, she had thought that he was angry.

How could he suddenly agree to let her sign instead?

"You should thank him later," Brody continued, mistaking Bethany's silence for awe and gratitude.

Snapping out of her thoughts, Bethany nodded. “Yes, I understand."

Soon, Jonathan and several project leaders walked into the restaurant.

Jonathan was still strikingly noticeable. From the moment he entered, he drew countless eyes.

Instead of wearing a formal suit, he had changed into a black shirt and trousers. His hair was still meticulously combed. His slightly furrowed eyebrows and thin lips made him look cold and dignified at the same time.

As he approached their table, Bethany accidentally met his gaze.

She quickly looked away, pretending that nothing had happened.
