Samira watched him go, her mind racing with thoughts.

It seemed clear now that Bethany and Jonathan were seriously in conflict. She had given Bethany the antidote. If Jonathan was pretending just to get the antidote, he would have reconciled with Bethany by now. Instead, their disdain for each other appeared to have deepened.

The only logical conclusion was that Jonathan wasn't pretending.
