Chapter: 175
Before Bethany could respond to Jayson's text, she heard his voice calling her.

She looked up to see Jayson at the airport, dressed in a dark overcoat.

“Bethany, over here!"

She approached with her Luggage, which Jayson took from her without hesitation.

"Are you tired? Hop in the car. I'll drive you to Aimee's place so you can rest well. My friends will come by tomorrow morning to help out. They're experts in this area. I knew I couldn't manage alone, so I called them in."

Jayson's continual chatter was strikingly similar to Aimee's.

In the depths of the night, his words brought Bethany a comforting sense of family warmth.

"What's the matter?" Noticing her hesitation, Jayson furrowed his brows.

“I... I'm sorry, Mr. Watson. I feel uneasy accepting your help so freely."

Jayson paused, then gave a resigned smile. "Why overthink it? Aren't you Aimee's close friend? Moreover, my project ties back to Bates Group because of you. If anything were to happen to you, it would affect me too. Helping you is really my responsibility."

Jayson's words were meant to reassure, but Bethany was no Longer naive. She understood the underlying implications well.

She got into the car, remaining quiet for the entire ride.

As they neared Aimee's neighborhood, Bethany finally said, “I haven't been honest with Aimee. I'm not single."

Although her marriage to Jonathan was more of a formal agreement, she was technically still married.

Jayson looked surprised, but quickly smiled and replied, "Then your partner is a fortunate man."

“I said I'm not single. Do you still want to help me?"

"As I mentioned, I see you as a friend.” He caught her gaze in the rearview mirror. “Bethany, I'm mot the type to act with hidden motives. I admire you greatly and would like you to be my girlfriend. But regardless of those feelings, I am still Aimee's cousin, and that makes me sort of your friend, too."

Bethany remained silent for a moment.

"Don't dwell on it now. The priority is to sort out your current situation. Although I'm not part of the company, Aimee's explanation showed me how serious this is. Let's gather evidence to clear your name first. Regarding our feelings, let's act as if nothing happened, and I won't pursue you further."

Jayson smiled as he parked the car at the community's entrance.

"Try to get some rest. You need to confront what's ahead. Losing sleep over it won't help. Take care."

Bethany nodded and appreciated his thoughtful advice.

Aimee, who had been waiting anxiously upstairs, nearly dozed off but hurried down when she heard noises.

“Bethany, it's so good to see you. Don't worry. Jayson and I are here for you!"
