Chapter: 193
Soon, the legal department was filled with onlookers eager to know what had occurred, until Jonathan's assistant intervened. "Return to your work. Mr. Bates has ordered that this incident not be discussed. And no sharing of photos! Go!"

Once the crowd dispersed, Brody approached Bethany and whispered, “Mr. Bates just called. He wants you to meet him at East Shade Bay after work."

"Okay," Bethany acknowledged, but she didn't leave right away.

Instead, she took a tissue from the table, cleaned the blood from the floor, and put it away.

Even though Maddie's words proved their blood relations, Bethany recognized the need for undeniable proof.

She remembered her original purpose for being there.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Maddie was taken to the emergency room.

She passed out in the ambulance due to bleeding from a recent surgical wound.

Nikolas, freshly showered and planned to spend time with his new girlfriend, was still damp and had his shirt half-buttoned.

"What's going on? Why did Maddie lose so much blood all of a sudden?"

“I'm not fully briefed yet. It looks like there was a confrontation with Bethany."

Jonathan had arrived at the office early for a meeting. When he found out Bethany had come to work, he tried to contact Brody but got no response. He suspected Bethany might have gone to confront Maddie.

He walked in just in time to see the aftermath.

“What? Bethany again! Was she trying to kill Maddie Upon hearing the news, Nikolas became enraged. "Jonathan, don't you share some of the blame here? Maddie is your employee, and you couldn't keep her safe!"

“Bethany didn't mean for any of this to happen.”

“Then what was it? It looks to me like she attacked Maddie on purpose!"

"I was in a hurry to get Maddie to the hospital, and I don't know the details yet," Jonathan replied, his expression tense.

Nikolas's eyes widened, and he made a decision. "Well, if you're unsure of the facts, we should let the authorities handle this. If Bethany is innocent, let the police sort it out."

As he spoke, he went to grab his phone, but Jonathan quickly snatched it away.

“Nikolas, this is a company matter. You're not in a position to make this call."

It was the first time Jonathan had asserted himself so firmly with Nikolas. They had been friends for many years, and even under strain, Jonathan had never taken such a stern tone.

He had become quite different because of Bethany.

Stunned by Jonathan's harsh words, Nikolas calmed down and stopped his rant.

After a moment of heavy silence, he inhaled deeply and said, "Jonathan, you need to stop this. Consider the fallout if you don't.”
