Following a Lengthy silence, Jonathan responded, "Nola and Rowan are waiting for you at home. You need to recover, for the kids, and me."
Bethany raised her eyes slowly, feeling detached. "Jonathan, I... I can't find the words to express how I feel right now."
She had envisioned growing old with Jonathan, being there for their son and daughter. But she couldn't bear the thought that someone else had to die for that to happen.
“I understand," Jonathan said, rubbing her back as though comforting a child. “We can't undo what's done, no matter how much we wish to."
