She glanced up and caught a glimpse of hurt in Jonathan's eyes.
She had only meant to say that some moments were bound to be lost and that not all gatherings held the same importance, but she really shouldn't have gone there.
“Jonathan... I'm sorry."
"Hmm?" He quickly masked his expression, pretending her words hadn't stung. Noticing her remorse, he tried to comfort her. "You've done nothing wrong. There's no reason to apologize. The fact that I wasn't there from the start is on me. Why should you feel sorry?"
“You're clearly troubled by the time you missed with them."
