Chapter: 200
"I'm all ears," Bethany responded.

"Please make a promise to me that you won't fall for a man who is in love with someone else."

Bethany dipped her gaze downward. “Okay.”

Since Jonathan needed to hand over the work in Canbidge to Brody, he ended up working until nine o'clock in the evening.

As he settled into the car, he proceeded to unbutton his shirt and loosen his tie.

“Mr. Bates, are you going back to East Shade Bay?" the assistant asked, turning to look at him.

"Yes. Have you sent Bethany back?"

"Yes. She's in East Shade Bay as we speak."

Jonathan couldn't help but smile simply at the thought of Bethany.

Bethany had frequently pondered the dynamic between him and Maddie.

It seemed likely that her concern stemmed from her feelings for him.

If she didn't have feelings for him, she wouldn't keep mentioning it time and time again.

It seemed they had made a small stride in their relationship.

Upon reaching East Shade Bay, Jonathan alighted from the vehicle, carrying his sleek briefcase.

Upon unlocking the door, he saw a pair of high heels at the entrance.

This unexpected sight caused him to frown.

His mother was here.

"Jonathan, you're finally home. I was actually considering leaving."

Seeing him, Francine rose from her seat and approached the door to welcome him.

Jonathan unconsciously glanced over her shoulder.

There was no sign of Bethany.

Did that mean she didn't bump into his mother?

“What are you doing here, Mom?"

"I just wanted to see where you live. I'm impressed that you're open to adjusting your personality and considering hiring a cleaner. I haven't been able to spend much time with you lately. As a mother, it's painful for me to realize that I'm not aware of the changes happening in my son's life."
