Thankfully, the driver picked up on the vibe. With a quick look at Bethany standing close to Jonathan, he got the hint. After a few friendly words, he tipped his hat and ambled off.

When he was out of earshot, Bethany turned to Jonathan with a raised eyebrow. "So?"

The driver's casual familiarity hinted that something wasn't quite right.

Combined with the little mysteries and half-truths Jonathan had left dangling, Bethany was able to put the pieces together.

For once, Jonathan looked sheepish-a rare sight indeed. Pulling her into a light embrace, he murmured, “From here on out, you'll know it all. No more secrets."
