"Didn't I tell you as a kid not to rely too much on others?" Rowland placed the peeled shrimp onto Mia's plate.

"I haven't forgotten that!" Mia retorted.

Across the table, Calvin's gaze briefly landed on the shrimp Rowland had placed on Mia's plate. A faint smile played on his lips as he handed Mia another dish. “It's natural for Mia to lean on me. In fact, I like it when she depends on me. I'll always take care of her."

Rowland's head lifted sharply, his dark eyes locking onto Calvin's with quiet intensity.
