She appeared to be deep in thought, then abruptly let go of his hand and dashed to the nurses’ station. “Excuse me, could I borrow a small stool?"

"There's one right here". The nurse smiled and stood up to hand it to her.

Naomi came back to Dooley with the stool.

She set the stool on the floor and stood on it in her high heels, just reaching eye level with him.
