Naomi frowned, unwrapped a candy, and popped it into her mouth. "That blockhead! I even gave him advice on how to woo Mia, but he ignored me and insisted on doing things his way. Now look-Mia's gone, and he's chasing her all the way to Freedonia!"

When Rowland was in the hospital with an injury to his head, Naomi suggested he exploit the situation. After all, Mia had a tender heart, and with the sight of him hurt, maybe she wouldn't have left.

Mia obviously loved Rowland, and Naomi's suggestion would have worked.

But Rowland had brushed it off firmly, saying that he wouldn't deceive Mia, which made Naomi's plan seem like a bad idea.
