Mia shifted uncomfortably in her seat, but she pressed on, knowing she had to get it out.

"My parents bought me a place here. They think it's time I move out and start living on my own. And don't worry, I won't ask the landlord for the deposit back since I'm breaking the lease. If you can't find a new tenant right away, I'll cover the rent until you do."

Her words lingered in the air. Calvin stared at her, stunned into silence. It took him a moment to collect his thoughts.

"Are you moving in with Rowland?" he asked.

Mia shook her head and lowered her gaze. "No. He's staying in Freedonia for maybe another month before he comes back."
