It was unusual for Dooley to speak at such length. Clearly, he was trying to ease the tension.

"But why would he accuse you of something like that? Why did his words make you give in?"

Dooley didn't respond.

"Do you agree with him, then? Despite our marriage and our child, you still feel our backgrounds divide us! I wouldn't agree with him! I'd only think he's subtly criticizing me!"
