Chapter: 270
“What's your decision?" it read.
Jonathan ignored the message and deleted it afterwards. He opened the window, brought out a lighter from his pocket and lit a cigarette stick.
After he had calmed his nerves, he had a bath and cuddled the sleeping Bethany in his arms before he slept off.
It seemed that only at times like these could he truly feel that Bethany truly belonged to him.
The sound of the alarm clock woke Bethany early the following morning.
She had scheduled to wake up early and prepare some documents at the company, which she would be needing since she was going out with Brody.
She didn't expect Jonathan to be up so early. She was surprised to see him awake and preparing breakfast in the kitchen.
She slipped out the sheets and wore her slip-on. "Jonathan, sometimes I feel like you don't need sleep at all."
Jonathan, who was busy making breakfast, turned and glanced at her.
He smiled, saying, “I'm accustomed to this lifestyle. I've not had more than six hours sleep in a day since graduation."
“This CEO thing must be really tough." Bethany began to realize the hard work attached to the position.
He was very respected at the company. He had so much power and influence. She thought he had the best life and it was so wonderful to be in charge, giving out orders.
Being part of Jonathan's life and seeing all the hard work put into being the boss, she couldn't help but sigh. Being a CEO was no easy work.
It required so much caution in decision making because one wrong decision, no matter how minute it seemed, could lead to significant losses.
"Don't I have to work hard to provide for my family?"
His question amused her. Bethany couldn't help but chuckle.
She was glad to hear him say such a thing because no one else had such an opportunity.
“Why do you need to earn more? The dividends from these projects alone are enough, more than enough even."
“I am not strong enough."
Bethany looked at him, a little confused.
"If I did, you wouldn't have to worry your head about a thing.”
Jonathan handed her a glass of warm milk. "Trust me, you don't have to worry. I'll handle it."
"I know." Bethany smiled. "I believe you."
She had never gone against her mother's wish in a long time until now, all for what she shared with Jonathan.
