Chapter: 293

Bethany was now in Jonathan's arms.

“What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Jonathan asked, his tone was even, showing no signs of jealousy or anger.

“I'm fine." Bethany then turned to Jayson with a small smile. “Thanks for bringing me back. Go get some rest."

Jayson looked at Jonathan, hesitated to speak, but eventually just nodded and said, "Tomorrow... I'll be with you."

"Okay."

Bethany watched him get into his car and leave.

Picking up on a detail from their exchange, Jonathan asked, "What is he going to do with you tomorrow?"

"Nothing." Bethany, appearing exhausted, avoided eye contact.

Brody, rushing over, concerned they might argue, quickly jumped in, saying, "Mr. Bates was really worried about you. When you didn't pick up your phone, he rushed out from the hospital to find you!"

“Oh, really?" Bethany's reaction was nonchalant.

“Bethany, can you tell me what happened?" Sensing that there was more to the story, Jonathan attempted to make eye contact but was unsuccessful.

"Nothing. I'm just tired." Bethany avoided Jonathan's reaching hand, which was poised to grasp her wrist. “Let's talk tomorrow."

Caught in the middle, Brody found himself trapped between Bethany and Jonathan, unsure of what to say or do.

Jonathan gave Brody a brief glance and murmured, “You should head back and rest."

"Okay."

After Brody departed, Bethany slipped into the bedroom alone.

Jonathan lingered at the doorway for a moment before he approached and pushed the door open.

Bethany was already on the bed, her clothes unchanged, eyes closed.

He wasn't sure if she was actually asleep.

Just as Jonathan was about to leave and arrange for someone to look into what had transpired with Bethany at the hospital, she suddenly spoke.

“Jonathan, I've already told you I'm tired."

“Then rest. I won't bother you. I'll stay in the guest room tonight."

Bethany sat up, her gaze intense as she faced Jonathan. Her Lips moved as if to speak, but no words came out.

Taking a deep breath, Jonathan stepped closer and offered, “Should I call the doctor to check on you?"
