Chapter: 31
"Do you think my friend should be the one to ask him for a divorce?"
"It depends on whether your friend has feelings for him or not. If she doesn't like him, she could just take what she needs from him. There's no need to ask for a divorce." Aimee suddenly narrowed her eyes at Bethany suspiciously. “Wait, is this so-called ‘friend’ you're talking about actually you?"
"What?" Bethany, wide-eyed, immediately denied it. "Of course not!"
"Hmm." Aimee scratched her chin, deep in thought. "Did your friend tell you if the guy's good in bed? If not, she should just divorce him."
“He's good," Bethany answered without thinking.
“Wow, your friend talked to you about their sex life?" Aimee's eyebrows shot up in surprise. “Don't beat around the bush here, Bethany. Do I know this 'friend' of yours?"
"No, you don't know her. She's an old classmate of mine." Afraid she might slip up, Bethany quickly changed the topic. "By the way, I have an appointment with the person in charge of the Zucron Company project today. Are you free? Could you come with me?"
Aimee shook her head apologetically. "Sorry, but I can't. The head office just transferred additional funds to the project with Glora Company, and I have to oversee things there."
“It's okay. I can go by myself."
Later that day, before leaving for her appointment, Bethany printed out the list of third-party companies Jonathan had sent to her email and put it in a folder.
The person in charge of the Zucron Company project was a middle-aged man. Despite his age, he looked well-maintained and stylish.
“Ensson Corporation can't just make us assume all the risks of the third party's loan," he sneered, his arrogance evident.
He knew how important this project was to Bethany, which was why he kept lording his authority over her.
And yes, the risks were high, but so were the potential profits.
"Mr. Lawrence, the contract states that it's your company's responsibility to meet the investment guarantee amount," Bethany responded with a professional smile, handing him a copy of the guarantee. "“Ensson Corporation has shown our greatest sincerity in cooperating with you. I believe you also want to make this happen, which is why Mr. Smith came up with this idea.”
However, Kenton Lawrence refused to cooperate with Bethany. He Looked her up and down before scoffing, "Since the contract hasn't been signed yet and you're blaming us for the amount of money on our guarantee, I don't think it's necessary for us to continue our cooperation. Bates Group is so strong, right? I doubt Zucron Company's qualified to work with you."
As he was about to leave, Bethany stood up and said hurriedly, “Please wait a moment, Mr. Lawrence!"
Kenton paused and deliberately took a few steps towards Bethany, cornering her like a predator stalking its prey.
"Hmm? Anything else?" he asked, his voice dripping with malice.
Bethany frowned, lowering her head in an attempt to avoid his discomfiting gaze.
Unexpectedly, Kenton grabbed her wrist, his smile shifting from disdainful to lecherous. "You asked me not to leave, and now you're hiding from me. What's the meaning of this?"
“Please let me go!" Bethany struggled to break free from his vice-like grip, but her strength was no match for his.
"It turns me on when sluts Like you pretend to be innocent and pure,” he continued, licking his lips. "This isn't the right place to discuss our ‘cooperation.’ Let's go somewhere more private!"
Kenton tightened his grip, trying to drag her out of the room.
