Chapter: 363
Given the little girl had mentioned she had no father, she was likely staying just with her mother. For Jonathan, a man, visiting at this hour wouldn't be proper.
Soon after, the receptionist finished her call and turned to Jonathan.
"Sir, the guest mentioned she doesn't know you. If you wish to leave something, you may leave it here, and she can pick it up from the front desk tomorrow."
"That will do." Jonathan agreed and left the candies on the counter.
His distinct presence seemed to catch the receptionist's eye, who appeared reluctant to see him leave. As he turned to go, she asked, "Sir, do you have a fondness for children?"
“She's quite charming."
"Yes! That little girl is absolutely adorable. Her mother is beautiful as well!"
At the mention of the child's mother, Jonathan stopped. "You've seen her?"
"Yes. She's been staying here for over a week, and I see her frequently. However, the little girl has just arrived."
Jonathan hesitated, realizing he was delving into the private life of someone he hadn't met. Feeling it was wrong, he composed himself and returned to his room.
As the night grew deeper, sleep became elusive.
Despite having several glasses of red wine, his thoughts were still dominated by Bethany.
After all these years, he could still recognize her at first glance.
He didn't need a clear view, just a profile or even a vague silhouette would do.
Jonathan put down his wine glass, and a wry smile formed on his Lips.
Years had passed, yet nothing had changed.
He picked up his phone and called Brody.
The familiar greeting came through. “Mr. Bates."
“About my encounter with Bethany—"
“You're asking if I can locate her, right?"
“No, pretend it never happened." Darkness clouded Jonathan's eyes.
"And book me a flight out of Westsilver."
Brody was taken aback by this request.
He understood Jonathan's resolve to move on and put that person out of his mind, but he also recognized that encountering Bethany at such a pivotal time could disrupt all his progress.
