Chapter: 375
Jonathan had announced his marriage to finally put an end to such advances.

"So, you and Bethany aren't together?" Nikolas asked.

"No."

After a brief pause, Nikolas raised his eyebrows and pressed, “Are you really not planning to reconcile with Bethany? Have you moved on?"

Jonathan looked up sharply. “Did my mother send you to ask me that?"

“Of course not! If I were siding with your parents, I wouldn't be here telling you this. They actually thought you were getting married. When they questioned me, I covered for you. I told them a quick marriage is normal for someone your age!"

"It's she who has moved on, not the other way around."

On the plane leaving Westsilver, Jonathan wanted to leave some messages for Brody, instructing him to check on Bethany's condition.

But ultimately, he didn't send them.

Over the years, Jonathan had decisively handled multi-billion dollar business dealings. Yet, whenever it involved Bethany, his resolve always faltered.

“Everyone knows about your marriage now. Bethany must have seen it. What if she comes back to you and finds out?"

Nikolas leaned in, scrutinizing Jonathan's face for any telltale sign.

He might not have understood much else, but Jonathan's feelings for Bethany were clear to him. Jonathan, usually so reserved, showed genuine care and consideration because of her, confirming Bethany's irreplaceable place in his heart.

With Jonathan's public declaration of marriage, he seemed to have cornered himself with no retreat.

Nikolas suspected there was more to it.

“She's been living well without me. Back then, she didn't lie." She genuinely didn't need him.

"Did you look into her situation?"

"I didn't dig any deeper. I just came across some information about her recently."

Nikolas frowned, spreading his hands and said confidently, "She should be living even better now! Before, she had to earn a lot to cover her mother's medical bills, which was a huge burden. Now that she doesn't have that expense. Her mother..."

Jonathan suddenly looked up, his brow furrowed. "What about her mother?"

Realizing he had misspoken, Nikolas quickly covered his mouth and shook his head. “No, nothing!"

"Tell me!"

Jonathan's tone was so fierce that it startled even his long-time friend, Nikolas.

“Bethany's mom passed away.."
