Chapter: 393
“Yeah, any man who marries her would be incredibly lucky," Ryan remarked, his frustration evident as he rubbed his temples. “And her husband must be quite handsome too, given how beautiful their daughter is."
Wait!
“Daughter? Bethany has a daughter?" Nikolas exclaimed.
"Yeah, Bethany has a daughter, and she's pretty," Ryan mentioned, glancing at Nikolas. "You weren't aware?"
Upon hearing Ryan's words, Nikolas shot up from his seat, accidentally tipping over a glass on the table, which shattered on the floor.
“She has a kid? How is that possible?" Nikolas blurted out, his mind reeling as if struck by Lightning.
If Bethany had a kid, then he was wrong in believing she had left Jonathan because of infertility.
"I'm convinced she has a daughter. Why is this such a big deal? Just tell me already!" Ryan's curiosity was peaked.
He had anticipated that introducing Bethany to Nikolas would offer some guidance, yet the meeting had gone awry, leaving him in the dark.
“Any idea how old her daughter is?" Nikolas inquired.
“Looks like she's about two years old," Ryan answered.
At this, Nikolas couldn't help but smirk faintly.
Two years old. Then Jonathan couldn't be the father.
They'd been apart for four years and hadn't seen each other since.
Jonathan had tried everything to track down Bethany but come up empty-handed.
Nikolas felt his excitement deflate Like a balloon losing air.
Ryan urged, "Come on, spill it! What's going on? Are you trying to torture me with suspense?"
Nikolas waved dismissively and let out a deep sigh. "You're familiar with Jonathan, right?"
“Jonathan? Absolutely! Everyone's familiar with the CEO of Bates Group, right? Hold on a second..." Ryan paused, beginning to piece it all together.
"Exactly." Nikolas agreed with a nod. "Bethany used to be Jonathan's wife."
Though he hated to admit it, Jonathan and Bethany had been married.
Ryan's frown deepened. "What led to their divorce? Was Jonathan unfaithful?"
"No, it was Bethany who ended up falling for someone else!" Nikolas couldn't help but defend his friend. "Jonathan sacrificed everything for her, even ignoring his own parents. Yet Bethany left, claiming the pressure of their relationship was unbearable."
Ryan refrained from speaking. He struggled to reconcile this with the girl he knew.
