Chapter: 410
After her departure from Westsilver, she didn't anticipate needing to connect with anyone from there. However, the driver sent another friend request, which left her feeling somewhat uncomfortable, as if she had been caught in a misstep.

She didn't usually maintain contacts with strangers, and she had thought the driver wouldn't need to reach out again.

"Ms. Holt, do we need to add anything else?" Colt broke into her thoughts.

With a quick, reassuring smile, Bethany retrieved the PowerPoint presentation she had prepared late into the night. “There are safety concerns at our construction site that need addressing. I've spoken with the head of amusement facilities, and we must improve inspections and ensure all workers wear safety helmets.”

“Absolutely! I was at the site yesterday and noticed two individuals without helmets. If an accident occurs, who will be held accountable? Who will be responsible for the negative impact on the entire project?"

Colt responded immediately. “I meant to bring this up, but it slipped my mind. Thankfully, you reminded us."

His tone was unmistakably ingratiating, and it didn't go unnoticed.

The team members nodded, echoing his sentiments. "Understood! We owe Ms. Holt our thanks. She's really looking out for our safety."

Bethany's expression clouded briefly, her mind wrestling with words she hesitated to voice.

As the meeting drew to a close, she didn't rush out. "Mr. Flores, a moment please."

Colt asked, "What's up? Did we overlook something?"

“No." Bethany waited until they were alone. “You're the main person in charge here in Westsilver, and I'm merely here to support. I'd appreciate it if the focus could be less on me to avoid any misunderstandings."

Colt chuckled and dismissed her concerns with a wave of his hand.

"You're overthinking it. We're all here to work for the company. Sure, I might be leading the project, but Ryan appointed you! We're supposed to help each other, so naturally, I value your input."

Bethany clarified, "That's not exactly my point."

“I get it! I'll keep it in mind when we're around others, don't worry." Colt was interrupted as someone called him away.

Left alone, Bethany massaged her temples in frustration.

She understood clearly; Colt's deference wasn't directed at her but at Ryan.

But there was nothing going on between her and Ryan, and there would never be.

Bethany made her way back to her makeshift office on the construction site. Set up for basic administrative tasks, the office was rudimentary and functional.

Usually, it sufficed, but on windy days, dust from the site clouded the windows, obscuring her view, forcing her to work from her hotel room instead. It had been some time since she last used this office.

As soon as Bethany opened the door, she noticed an extra desk in her office.

Was someone going to share this space with her? No one had informed her about it.

Just as she was turning to seek clarification from Colt, she noticed Ryan approaching quickly.
