Chapter: 415
“If I can't even choose my wife, I might as well resign as CEO."

“Are you giving up the CEO position for a woman?" Francine paused, sneering. “I bet Bethany Holt has contacted you again. No one else would make you act like this!"

Jonathan didn't argue. He smiled, with a touch of sarcasm in his expression. "So you know."

She knew Bethany had the power to unsettle him.

Francine was at a loss for words.

"Bethany is married again and living well. Leave her alone.”

Jonathan's voice was flat yet undeniably threatening. "I don't want to fight with you."

They shouldn't test his patience.

"You're obsessed with Bethany," Francine yelled.

"I've followed the rules all my life, school, work, no rebellion. Bethany was my only exception," Jonathan murmured.

Bethany slept soundly through the night. The next morning, her alarm woke her.

She opened her eyes, sat in bed for a moment, then went to wash up.

As she was about to leave, her phone rang.

It was Ryan.

“I'm at the entrance of Dreamer Hotel to pick you up for work."

“You don't need to. I can get to work on my own." Her car was repaired, and she preferred to drive herself.

She wanted to keep her distance from Ryan and avoid getting in his car.

"I think you've misunderstood. I need to brief you on the Brokdon trip! The partners there are tough, and our previous collaboration wasn't smooth. I want you prepared."

"We can discuss it at the office. There's no rush."

"I'm already downstairs. Are you really going to reject me like this? That makes me sad."

This was Ryan's usual tactic.

He often used work as an excuse, and if that failed, he'd appeal to his pride.

Bethany still worked for Ryan, so she had to show him some respect.

"I'm coming downstairs."
