Chapter: 425
Bethany was taken aback that Ryan had made her breakfast himself.

However, it didn't particularly touch her.

"You don't have to measure yourself against Jonathan," she said. No one could match Jonathan.

"I know I can't compete with him. Not in family background, status, or position. I'm way behind. But there's one difference: my parents wouldn't object to anyone I chose to marry." Ryan shrugged and met her gaze. "To them, as long as I bring someone home, even if it were aman, they'd be okay with it."

Bethany was skeptical.

Wealthy families tended to be exclusive.

Cinderella stories were for fairy tales; in real life, who didn't prefer a match of equal social standing?

"Ryan, I'm really not the right choice for you. Don't waste your time on me."

Ryan's demeanor hardened, his focus on the breakfast she held.

“I know what I'm doing. I'm aware of your situation. You just need to watch how far I'm willing to go for you."

Bethany found herself at a loss for words.

“Take care on your trip. If you run into any trouble, call me. I won't let anyone bother you." Ryan flashed a smile, then climbed into his car and drove away.

Bethany stood momentarily, holding the warm breakfast, and exhaled.

Ryan stood no chance against Jonathan.

But it wasn't just about Ryan versus Jonathan; she wasn't ready to accept anyone.

By ten o'clock, Bethany had gathered her belongings and set off for the airport.

She had enjoyed a good night's sleep and felt refreshed. She intended to review some documents during the flight.

At the airport, Bethany collected her boarding pass and discovered she was in first class.

Checking her phone, she saw a message from Ryan. “Don't overdo it. First class is on the company."

The message was followed by a smiling face.

Bethany felt a mix of gratitude and resignation.

If she were a young, naive girl fresh out of school, Ryan's attentions might have swept her off her feet by now.

After all, he was wealthy, handsome, considerate, and attentive. His status and appearance were undeniably impressive.

Yet, he couldn't quite reach Jonathan's level.
