Chapter: 433
“Alright,” Bethany said with a nod.
After they departed, Jonathan slowly emerged from behind a pillar in the hotel lobby, observing them closely.
He hesitated, torn between the impulse to follow and the need to respect boundaries.
He reminded himself of his place.
Rushing to her hotel after finding out she had cried was already a bold move. He couldn't push it further.
With his room key in hand, Jonathan turned to head back to his room.
Then, taking a deep breath, as if coming to a decision, he changed course and followed the path Bethany and the others had taken.
Jonathan thought he would just watch and not get involved.
When they arrived at the hospital, the outpatient department was already closed. Jaden rushed into the emergency room, carrying Liza in his arms.
Bethany followed close behind, taking care of the registration and payment.
It was a relief that Jaden was there. Bethany would have had a hard time handling everything by herself.
The doctor examined Liza and confirmed she had acute gastroenteritis.
Luckily, it wasn't serious, but she needed an IV drip.
By the time Liza was hooked up to the drip, it was almost midnight.
She lay on the bed, falling asleep. Jaden sat beside her, watching the drip intently.
"Ms. Holt, you can go. I'll stay and make sure she's okay."
“It's alright. You can't do much more if you stay," Bethany replied.
“She's a woman, and you'll be limited if she needs to use the bathroom." Even though Bethany was tired, she was determined to wait until Liza's drip was finished.
The doctor said Liza needed to stay overnight for observation. If all went well, she could go home the next day.
"You're right." Jaden couldn't keep looking at Bethany, so he forced himself to glance away.
He had only recently started at Goldwald Company and had seen Bethany a few times in meetings.
Now, being so close to her, he could feel heart pounding.
"You've been traveling all day. You should go back to the hotel and rest," Bethany suggested.
"If I leave, you'll be alone, Ms. Holt. It's midnight. It's not safe."
