Chapter: 562
Ryan turned on his computer to check the latest shareholder data.
Brody patiently waited on the Line, allowing Ryan time to process the unsettling news.
As Ryan saw the update on his screen, his heart sank.
How could everything unravel so quickly? It felt surreal.
"You call this a choice?" Ryan exploded in anger.
“Absolutely, Brody responded. "You have the option to sell your 34% stake to us, or keep it. However, should Bates Group become the majority shareholder, the value of your shares might plummet. They aren't planning to prioritize Goldwald Company."
Once Bates Group took over, Goldwald Company's funds would dwindle rapidly, halting new projects.
Consequently, Ryan's shares would soon be worth little to nothing.
Ryan scowled, stunned that Jonathan would resort to such extremes for Bethany.
This tactic-strong-arming a company mid-project into a buyout-would not only tarnish Bates Group's reputation but also squander substantial funds.
It seemed out of character for Jonathan, who was known for his strategic calm.
"Jonathan Bates should remember Bethany is his ex-wife! This isn't the way to win her back," Ryan snapped.
"That concern belongs to Mr. Bates, not you," Brody retorted indifferently.
"Alright then! If it's a game you want, don't assume I'm out of moves. I too can buy shares at a premium. We'll see who the shareholders favor!" Ryan countered fiercely, his ego clouding his judgment.
“Very well," Brody said, ready to hang up.
Then, with a sudden chuckle, Ryan added, "And since Jonathan is so keen on Bethany, maybe I'll just fire her from Goldwald Company right now!"
"You can try! I'm done bothering you. Goodbye, Mr. Blakely," Brody declared before ending the call.
His abrupt hang-up infuriated Ryan to the extent that he hurled his phone to the floor, shattering it.
He stood abruptly, dialing his secretary. “Issue an order to fire Bethany from Goldwald Company now!"
“Huh?" The secretary's voice quivered, clearly taken aback.
After all the effort they had put into securing Bethany's contract, Ryan now demanded her dismissal?
"Do it now!" Ryan's voice was firm.
"But... it takes three working days to retrieve a stored contract."
"Then fire her without proper procedure. I'll handle the compensation myself!" Ryan balled his hands into fists.
