Chapter: 60
Bethany had seen Aimee's cousin before.
He was unlike Aimee, being more mature and stable. At a notably young age, he became a professor of physics, reflecting his family's scholarly background.
Upon arriving at the temple, Bethany spotted Aimee waving energetically from beside a pillar.
Bethany approached, feeling a bit overwhelmed. "There are so many people here. Aren't you worried about making a scene?"
"What do I have to fear? I was afraid you wouldn't spot me in this crowd!" Aimee Laughed, then gestured towards the man next to her with a nod. "This is my cousin, Jayson Watson. Remember him? He's the lecturer who's always giving lectures!"
Bethany smiled and responded, "Yes, I remember."
At that time, she and Aimee had just left their old jobs to start new ones at Ensson Corporation. Concerned about Aimee's adjustment, Jayson had purchased a small, fully furnished duplex apartment close by for her.
His actions showed that he was thoughtful and caring, maintaining a strong bond with Aimee.
With a resigned pat on Aimee's head, he said, "It's all for your benefit."
"Yes, yes, you and Mom always stick together!" Aimee rolled her eyes and placed her hand on Bethany's shoulder. “Let me introduce you properly. This is my best friend, Bethany. She's lovely and kind. And yes, she's available!"
Bethany was slightly embarrassed by Aimee's forward introduction.
Fortunately, Jayson was familiar with Aimee's ways. He reached out to Bethany and said, "Nice to meet you, Bethany. We met briefly when we helped Aimee move."
"Hello." Bethany greeted him with a polite handshake.
After that, the three headed to the temple's main hall to pray. Soon after, Aimee mentioned she was hungry, and Jayson volunteered to fetch some snacks and water for them.
Once he was gone, Aimee gave Bethany a wink. "What do you think of Jayson? Do you see any potential for you two?"
Caught off guard, Bethany retorted, "Stop it! You're awful at playing Cupid."
“I mean it! Just yesterday, when Jayson arrived in Odonset, he told me he had split with his girlfriend six months ago. He's available now!" Aimee was practically bouncing with excitement. "I wouldn't set you up with just anyone, but I'm confident my cousin would be a wonderful husband. He has a secure job, earns well, and is an only child. His dad owns a supermarket chain, which could help with your mom's medical expenses."
“Enough!" Bethany cut her off. “If you don't stop, I'm leaving."
“Why would you leave? Don't you think Jayson is a decent guy?"
“It's not happening." Bethany valued Aimee's efforts, but she couldn't accept Jayson.
While they were talking, Jayson came back, handing Aimee a snack and offering Bethany one without garlic. “I remember Aimee mentioning you don't like garlic."
"Thank you." Bethany felt awkward after listening to Aimee's earlier words.
They continued walking around the temple, and Bethany mentioned she needed to visit her mother in the hospital.
“I can drive you there," Jayson suggested, looking at Bethany with a kind expression.
