Chapter: 609
Maddie shrugged casually, smiled, and replied, “Okay! I promise you."

Jonathan had prepared a table of delicious food.

Having lived at his house for a while, Rowan had noticeably gained weight.

“Take it easy. Digestion slows down in the evening." Jonathan was always attentive. He meticulously removed the bones from the fish for Rowan.

Bethany was completely at ease when Rowan was with Jonathan.

She knew Jonathan was caring, but dealing with his parents was another story.

Watching Rowan enjoy the meat Jonathan fed him and smile at him, Bethany felt a pain in her heart.

“Excuse me. I need to go to the bathroom."

She couldn't bear it any longer and her eyes were beginning to tear up, so she quickly stood up and left, hoping to regain her composure without Jonathan noticing.

As soon as Bethany walked away, Jonathan moved to follow her to check on her, but Rowan grabbed his clothes.

"Do you want Mommy to stay here tonight?"

"Can you make her stay?" Jonathan asked.

“Sure! But you have to let me access Bates Group's backend."

Jonathan nodded without a second thought. “Agreed.”

Rowan looked at him skeptically. "Aren't you worried I'll hack into the system and wipe all your data, sending Bates Group into turmoil?"

Gaining access to Bates Group's backend meant having control over the lifeblood of the company, where all crucial files and sensitive data were stored.

Jonathan responded calmly, "Go ahead and delete them. The company belong to you and your sister one day anyway."

"What?" Rowan recalled a TV show he had seen and frowned. “Once you get a new wife and kids, you won't say that anymore!"

Jonathan smiled with a mix of resignation and affection, as he tousled his son's hair.

"I'll only have one wife, your mom, or I'll stay single forever."

Watching his smart and charming son, Jonathan thought he shouldn't get too greedy. Dreaming of having two children with Bethany was something he hadn't allowed himself to contemplate in the four years since their separation.

The more he had, the more he worried it might all disappear.

When Bethany emerged from the bathroom, she caught sight of her son and ex-husband, who shared the same features, laughing joyfully together.

How long had it been since she had seen Rowan smile like that?
