Chapter: 613
Not that Jonathan hadn't considered it, but Rowan himself had shown no interest.

Bethany sat beside his bed, gently rubbing his stomach.

Rowan stubbornly refused to close his eyes and drift off, instead gazing intently at his mom.

“What's the matter, sweetie? Are you still in pain? Should we go to the hospital?" Bethany inquired, her focus solely on her son's well-being, brushing aside the surrounding circumstances.

"I'm feeling much better, but I want you to stay!" Rowan was keeping his word to Jonathan, clinging to Bethany's hand Like a lifeline and refusing to let her slip away.

Faced with her son's sudden clinginess, how could Bethany possibly pull her hand away?

Over the years, her relentless pursuit of financial stability and evidence recovery had left little time for her children.

"Alright, I'm not going anywhere," Bethany assured him, running her fingers through his hair, gazing lovingly at his little face—a carbon copy of Jonathan's. “Rowan, do you like him?’

Rowan blinked, immediately understanding who she meant.

The answer was already clear to Bethany, but she was curious to hear her son's thoughts.

Rowan scrunched up his face in confusion. He pouted and sighed. "If he's never hurt you, then I think he's okay. He treats me really well. But he's hurt you, and I couldn't forgive him!"

Bethany smiled gently. “He's never hurt me."

“Then why did you guys separate?" Before meeting Jonathan, Rowan had always imagined him as a playboy who broke Bethany's heart so badly that she had to leave him, despite loving him deeply and having his children.

However, after spending time with Jonathan, Rowan realized he was far from the irresponsible father he had imagined.

Jonathan would come home punctually to cook for him, postpone meetings to assist him with computer issues, and even check on him at night to ensure he was covered with a blanket. Rowan was aware of all these kindnesses.

The more he witnessed, the more confused he became about why he and his sister had been taken away by their mother.

He imagined that if his sister were here, Jonathan would show her the same affection.

"Rowan, we parted ways for many adult reasons that you might not understand right now, but know this-your dad is a good man. He's gentle, caring, and deeply loves his kids.”

"Can't I know more? Mom, maybe I could help!"

Bethany remembered Jayson mentioning Rowan's exceptional skill for computers, pondering whether he might help in retrieving some crucial evidence.

But after a brief pause, she decided against sharing more.

Rowan was already more mature than most kids his age, pondering over complex issues. If the security footage revealed anything too disturbing, it could deeply affect him.

Bethany was unwilling to compromise her son's emotional well-being for the sake of revenge.

“Sweetheart, it's time to sleep now. Mommy's got everything under control." She patted him softly, watching as he closed his eyes, seemingly drifting into dreams, yet his hand still held onto her sleeve.
