Chapter: 648
"I don't think those wounds will heal if Mommy is sad. She left despite the pain. It shows she really needs to see that man!"

Aimee thought Rowan's words made sense.

But...

She looked at the empty bed, placed her hand on her forehead, and complained, “What am I going to tell Jayson when he gets back?"

"Just tell Jayson Mommy turned into a butterfly and flew away!" said Rowan.

Aimee rolled her eyes. "Guess I'll go hide for a bit too. When Jayson asks, tell him I turned into a butterfly and flew off with your mommy !"*

"Can't you take me with you?" Rowan clutched Aimee's sleeve. "Please don't leave me!"

"I can hardly take care of myself right now."

Aimee lingered in the hospital room a while longer before she finally called Jayson.

As soon as he answered, he asked, "Is something wrong with Bethany?"

"Uh... she's actually... doing well."

"That's great. I'll freshen up and head to the hospital to take over. Need me to bring anything?" Relieved to hear Bethany was doing well, Jayson's voice brightened noticeably.

This only made Aimee more reluctant to speak the truth.

Her hesitation didn't go unnoticed by Jayson.

“What's going on?"

“Jayson... Bethany isn't at the hospital anymore." Aimee tensed. “She went to find Jonathan."

“What did you say?"

"It was Rowan! He must have told her where Jonathan was!" Aimee quickly shifted the blame onto the young boy.

It was his doing, after all!

Rowan's eyes widened. "What? How could you betray me?"

"You did it first!"

Jayson didn't have time to engage in their playful banter. He hung up and sped to the hospital.

Upon entering the room, he found them facing each other in silence.

Jayson took a deep breath, trying to remain calm so as not to alarm the child.
