Chapter: 655
Why was he so stubborn?

When they divorced, she had told him she loved someone else; why had he continued to wait for her?

The nurse, assuming Bethany's tears were due to concern for Jonathan's condition, came closer and reassured her gently, "Don't worry, he's stable now, though he hasn't regained consciousness."

Bethany looked up and realized the nurse was from her own country, her features were delicate and beautiful, and her voice was soothing and tender.

"When will he wake up?"

"I'm not sure, but it shouldn't be long now." The nurse's eyes lingered on Bethany, and then with a puzzled expression, she asked, "Your name is Bethany, right?"

Bethany was taken aback and said, “Yes. How did you know?"

“When he was momentarily conscious, he kept calling your name. It seemed to me that you must be someone very dear to him."

The nurse spoke with a hint of envy, but Bethany felt a pang of sadness upon hearing it.

Jonathan was in this state because he had tried to save her, and yet he still thought of her in his current state.

“Don't cry," the nurse said, flustered. She quickly grabbed a piece of paper and handed it to Bethany.

Bethany managed a weak smile and said, “Thank you."

"You're welcome! It's good that you're here. I believe you're the person he would most want to see when he wakes up!" The nurse smiled reassuringly. "During his surgery, I really thought we were Losing him. It was your name that brought him through!"

Surprised, Bethany asked, "You performed the surgery on him?"

"Yes!"

Bethany was at a loss for words, having assumed the woman was a nurse.

The woman smiled and said, “I suppose I'm too young to be handling this operation, right?"

“You certainly are very young." Now realizing the woman was a doctor, Bethany began to ask more about Jonathan.

Relieved to hear that Jonathan was no longer in danger, Bethany finally felt a sense of calm.

Outside the intensive care unit, when Francine found out her husband had allowed Bethany in, she stormed over in anger.

"How could you let her see our son without asking me?"

"You didn't ask for my consent before you did things with Maddie."

Godfrey's patience with his wife was wearing thin. "I have my reasons for what I do."

“Are you seriously considering having Bethany marry into the Bates family?"
