Chapter: 767
Amy's tears spilled over suddenly, tracing silent paths down her cheeks.
“I genuinely like you, which is why I came. Money wasn't my intention, I'll return it to you."
Acknowledging her sincerity, Nikolas rose abruptly, stubbing out his cigarette in the ashtray.
"Let it go. I already have a girlfriend."
Amy stood there, struck dumb by his words.
"I'm off. You're welcome to stay or go as you please."
Nikolas never left a woman alone in a hotel room like this.
Back in his car, he found himself fixating on Aimee's address.
Driven by curiosity, he wanted to pay the place a visit.
Nikolas recalled Aimee mentioning at the airport that she planned to return to her parents' house with Jayson the following day.
Frustrated, he tapped his fingers on the steering wheel.
He muttered, “Why bother visiting her? She's heartless!"
His mood soured, and he decided against any distractions, driving straight home instead.
Meanwhile, unable to find any trace of Maddie, her mother sought assistance from Francine.
On the phone, Francine sounded perplexed. "I haven't heard from Maddie in ages; I have no idea where she might be."
“Something terrible must have happened!"
"I wouldn't jump to conclusions. She might just need some space to clear her head. Try not to worry too much."
After offering a few soothing words, Francine ended the call.
Turning to the butler, she inquired, "Have you seen Godfrey today?"
“Mr. Bates left earlier to play golf.”
Francine arched an eyebrow. "So he won't be home anytime soon?"
"That seems right!" The butler nodded. "Should I call Mr. Bates to inquire about that?"
“Do not disturb him," Francine said. “If he returns and I'm not here, tell him I went shopping for clothes and then call me. He mustn't know where I am."
The butler nodded in understanding and summoned the driver for Francine.
