Chapter: 770
After careful consideration, she called her son.

After what felt like an eternity, Jonathan finally answered.

“Mom," he greeted.

Relief flooded through Francine at the sound of Jonathan's voice.

“Jonathan, how are you feeling? Is the pain still bothering you?"

“It's manageable," Jonathan replied calmly.

It reminded her of the time before he had reconnected with Bethany, when he would respond with brief words and then bury himself in his work.

Francine had wrestled with a pervasive sense of loneliness. She had desperately craved a deeper connection with her son's life but had felt utterly helpless. That was why she had valued Maddie so much.

Maddie, youthful and directly involved with her son, had often brought her updates.

"Do you think Bethany is taking good care of you?" Francine asked tentatively after a moment of contemplation.

By Jonathan's response, she could figure out if Bethany had managed to secure the USB drive.

Francine believed that if Bethany possessed concrete evidence, she would surely inform Jonathan, attempting to turn him against his mother.

"Yes, she is."

“Okay then. I'm not sure what else to say. Your father has taken charge now. I won't interfere. Just remember, if you need anything, don't hesitate to call. Drop me a message every now and then. Jonathan, no matter what, I'm your mother. When I brought you into this world, it was a close call. How could I not love you?"

"Alright, I'll do that."

After Francine hung up the phone, she exhaled deeply, tension melting away.

It seemed Bethany hadn't managed to obtain any damning evidence.

The surveillance video had been wiped clean. Even if Bethany had the USB drive, it would be useless. There was no cause for concern.

Francine patted her chest lightly and called for the butler. "Let's go to the door and welcome Godfrey. He'll be back soon."

"Yes, madam!"

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Jonathan patiently explained recent industry shifts to Bethany.

"Now, we're integrating firm and investment bank strategies to enhance our relationship with the bank. It covers everything from facility construction to daily operations, staffing, and merging investments."

Bethany sat across from Jonathan, her pen dancing across the page as she took careful notes.

Whenever she hit a snag in understanding, she'd blink and turn to Jonathan. Without missing a beat, he'd break it down patiently.
