Chapter: 808
Aimee turned over, mumbled something that could not be understood, and fell back asleep.
Nikolas smiled to himself. Seeing her so peacefully asleep and feeling tired himself, he climbed into the bed, wrapped his arms around her, and fell asleep next to her.
Well, that was right.
His efforts over the past few days had been worthwhile.
Bethany was taken aback.
It was clear Aimee had been quite taken with her blind date initially, yet she claimed she didn't attend.
She pondered this and cast a doubtful glance at Jonathan, who was reviewing a contract.
After standing and walking over to ensure he wasn't on a video call, Bethany spoke up.
"Did you mention Aimee's blind date to Nikolas?"
“No." Jonathan turned his attention from the computer to her. “What's up?"
“Aimee told me she didn't attend the blind date. When I pressed her, she didn't respond. I'm worried Nikolas might be causing her trouble!"
Bethany was concerned that Nikolas had bad intentions towards Aimee.
Jonathan reached out, held her by the waist, and gently pressed down on her thighs. “Aimee is no longer a child. She knows what's right and what's wrong. Don't worry."
"If it were anyone else, I wouldn't be concerned. Normal relationships can have their ups and downs, breakups, and reconciliations. At worst, they just meet the wrong person. But with Nikolas chasing after Aimee, I really think it's a bad idea." Bethany thought Nikolas had a reckless and untidy appearance. Despite his good looks, he had many romantic entanglements.
How could she not worry about her best friend's lifelong happiness, especially if Aimee might end up with a scumbag?
The fact was, Nikolas was clearly a scumbag.
"I've never seen Nikolas take anything seriously. Maybe he's actually considering settling down this time."
Jonathan understood something others did not.
Indeed, sometimes it just takes a few words, a minute, or a single glance to know you've found the right person.
No matter how much Nikolas liked to flirt, eventually, he'd find someone who truly captivated him.
"Alas! In the end, it's up to Aimee. Before she left, she told me she didn't actually like Nikolas, just found him attractive and wanted to... well, get physically close to him."
Bethany was shy about using more explicit terms, struggling to find the right words.
Jonathan grinned and teased, "So, when you messaged me and I went to your hotel room, you didn't push me away. You just wanted to have a simple physical interaction with me?"
Upon hearing that, Bethany felt embarrassed.
