Chapter: 829
Bethany exhaled a deep breath. "I'll get them. I'll head over after dinner."
She knew she'd have to face Jayson eventually. She couldn't avoid him forever.
It wouldn't reflect well if she didn't visit him after her return.
As she sent the reply, she caught Jonathan's intense gaze.
Before she could explain, he said firmly, “I'll go. You stay here.”
“Jonathan.." Bethany hesitated.
"I owe Jayson thanks." Jonathan's lips curled slightly. "Don't worry; I just want to thank him."
What else could he do to Jayson?
With Jonathan and Bethany outside the restaurant, it was just Nikolas, Aimee, and the two kids in the private room.
Aimee pulled out chairs for Nola and Rowan and then sat between them.
Seeing this, Nikolas chose the seat next to Rowan.
“Do you want to swap seats with me?" Rowan asked Nikolas with a playful look on his face.
"No, I'm good here." Nikolas, regretting that he had smashed her phone, chose to keep a low profile, opting not to say much.
Aimee pretended he wasn't there, digging through her bag to find candy for Nola.
Suddenly, Nikolas removed his SIM card and offered his phone to her.
“Use mine for now. My secretary will get a new one.”
"No, thanks," Aimee replied coldly, without even a glance his way.
“Aimee, can't you at least consider how I feel? You flaunted your chat with that blind date in front of me. Did you think I would be indifferent?"
If he hadn't reacted, he would have felt like a complete idiot.
Aimee stayed quiet, fiddling with Nola's ponytail. "I have just one piece of candy left. Better eat it quick, or your mommy will scold us both!"
Nola looked up and said, "Mommy said I could have candy today!"
“But if you eat this now, she won't buy you more."
"Then I'll eat it before she comes."
Aimee's laughter filled the air, and Nikolas, observing her interaction with Nola, found himself unexpectedly drawn to her.
