Chapter: 86
"Ah! Carry on with your work! We can talk more at the reunion.”

Picking up on Jonathan's cool, dissatisfied tone, Jacob refrained from asking for Bethany's contacts.

He figured he could add her through the group chat later.

Jonathan then led Bethany into a private dining room where several dishes were already laid out.

Brody had reserved the middle seat for Jonathan, leaving the one next to it empty.

Consequently, Bethany found herself sitting beside Jonathan.

"Mr. Bates, concerning our subsidiary's acquisition of Cloud Group's bad assets valued at three hundred million dollars, we opted for Cloud Milk Company for the debt transfer. The contract has been forwarded to Maddie for review." Brody, ever the diligent worker, seized any opportunity to report to Jonathan, knowing his usual busyness.

“Alright, Maddie will ensure the company's interests are protected,"

Jonathan responded.

His confident tone and relaxed demeanor displayed his trust in Maddie.

Bethany found herself subtly studying his sharp profile. She had mixed feelings upon hearing his words.

It was the tacit understanding between him and Maddie that made extra caution seem unnecessary.

Suddenly, Jonathan looked up, and Bethany quickly diverted her gaze.

She picked up the fork from the table and scanned the room, feeling little desire to eat. She only nibbled on a piece of cabbage.

"After we sign the debt restructuring agreement, we'll hold a 23% stake in Cloud Group. Once I'm back in Odonset, I'll finalize the repayment terms and amounts with them."

"The interest rate is 6%?" Jonathan inquired.

Brody nodded. "They preferred less, but 6% is the lowest we can go."

"Good job."

Actually, Jonathan would have been okay with 5%. The additional percent showcased Brody's bargaining power.

Brody had always been reliable.

After finishing their meal, Bethany returned to the hotel and worked intensely on Jayson's project. She didn't pause until Jonathan wrapped up his meeting in the Living room.

“By the way, you haven't yet added me to the classmates’ group chat."

She suddenly realized and suspected Jonathan might have forgotten.

At her remark, he stopped halfway through unbuttoning his shirt. “Why do you want to join that group chat? You've already drawn plenty of attention from guys." He slowly donned his nightgown and approached her. “Jacob doesn't measure up."
