Chapter: 864
Nikolas exhaled in relief. "Okay, I'm going home now.”

Nikolas headed straight home. Upon entering, he found Aimee in the living room, his parents hovering nearby.

Before Nikolas could utter a word, Aimee blurted out, "Mrs. Bennett, I'm not Nikolas' girlfriend. We're just friends."

“I know."

"You do?"

“You're upset, and that's why you deny it. Nikolas can be frustrating, I agree. But don't worry; his father and I will have a word with him once he's home."

At a loss for words, Aimee then noticed Nikolas standing by the door.

She rose from the couch and gestured towards him. "Nikolas, come here and explain this!"

Relieved at her son's arrival, Gilda relaxed a bit.

She had feared her future daughter-in-law might leave, causing Nikolas to resent her.

Grinning, Nikolas approached Aimee and announced, “Let me clear things up. Aimee is my girlfriend, and I plan to marry her."

Gilda sighed in relief at the declaration.

But Aimee's frustration only deepened. "Nikolas, have you lost your mind? Since when am I your girlfriend?"

"Considering how many nights you've spent in my bed, it's obvious, you are my girlfriend," Nikolas said shamelessly.

In the awkward silence, Kai coughed and excused himself from the room.

Gilda offered a tentative smile. "Maybe you two should talk things over. Your father and I will step out for a bit. Whether you decide to visit the bank today or not, we'll leave you to discuss."

"ALL right, Mom, I'll talk to her. She's really upset now."

Once his parents had left, Nikolas turned, only to wince as pain shot through his foot.

Seeing he was in slippers, Aimee had stomped on his foot hard.

“Ouch! Are you trying to cripple me? I just got over that injury!"

“You deserve it! Why shouldn't you be incapacitated?" Aimee's eyes blazed as she reached out. “Hand over my phone! You can't keep me here against my will."

Desperation tinged her voice; she needed to reach her parents to discuss the mess with Zeke.

"I can't let you go just yet. You'd run straight to the hospital to see Zeke." Nikolas pulled her back to the couch and fixed her with a grave look. "Listen, I'm serious. I've accepted your terms. My parents are eager to officially welcome you into the family. You wanted assurance, right? I'll give it to you."

Today, Nikolas looked unusually sharp.
