Chapter: 916
After saying that, Bethany closed her eyes and shuddered slightly, bracing herself for intense pain.
But after a long wait, the pain didn't come.
Instead, Jonathan withdrew from her. “Bethany, I don't want you to make it up to me this way." After saying this, he turned and walked into the bathroom.
Bethany was still on the bed, her hair spread out around her.
Without his weight on her, she could breathe freely again. A rueful smile crossed her face.
Was this supposed to be compensation?
It wasn't like that at all.
She had simply wanted to connect with the real Jonathan.
Even if it hurt, it was still her choice.
The noise of the shower came in the bathroom.
Bethany sat up on the bed and waited in the darkness for him.
When Jonathan emerged, clad only in a bath towel, Bethany embraced him.
"Just this one thing... Don't ask, okay?"
“About your mother?"
Bethany nodded.
“Okay, I won't ask."
He was always accommodating.
Jonathan stroked her hair and asked, "Were you frightened today?"
"Yes. I was worried something had happened to you."
Jonathan had never intentionally cut off contact before. She feared his injury had worsened, or perhaps he had been in an accident, , , ALL sorts of scenarios had raced through Bethany's mind, yet she hadn't anticipated that he had visited the cemetery.
"I'm strong. I'll manage," Jonathan said.
“But not if you're careless with your life."
Jonathan smiled, pulled her close, and sat her on his lap.
“If I die, Jayson will be happy."
