Chapter: 929
“What has Bethany told you?" Godfrey asked quickly.

“Nothing; it was just my own suspicion."

“Jonathan, do you really see your mother as malevolent as Maddie? Remember, you are her son! If she hadn't brought you into the world, Bethany would never have had the chance to approach you!"

Jonathan ended the call silently.

After a while, Bethany descended the stairs and noticed Jonathan's furrowed brow and troubled expression. She approached him cautiously.

“What's wrong?"

Jonathan reached out and drew her into his arms naturally. "I'm just wondering when we'll come back to East Shade Bay this time."

“When you're recovered."

He looked up at her, his gaze searching. "Will we come back together?"

"Jonathan, why do you always ask questions like that?" Bethany didn't want to mislead him, so she took his hand with a smile. "Please don't do this, okay? I don't like it."

Her words were enough to make Jonathan hold back whatever he was about to say next.

He would never want to upset her.

“Let's get some sleep, okay? We have to catch a plane tomorrow. I'm a little tired."

"Okay."

The next day, Jonathan and Bethany, along with their children Nola and Rowan, boarded their flight to Wesden.

Knowing the children might need space to play, Jonathan had booked the entire first-class cabin.

"You don't have to spend so much, even though you can afford it."

Bethany felt guilty about the expense.

She understood that money was never a concern for Jonathan, who had always been affluent. However, having come from a less privileged background, she still harbored a frugal mindset.

The cost of this flight alone was equivalent to what she had earned during all three years of junior high. Maybe even more than that.

“Does spending like this bother you?" he asked.

"Yes." Bethany nodded earnestly.

After a moment of contemplation, Jonathan suggested, “What if you managed all my finances? You'd know about all my expenditures and could remind me to save money whenever needed."

"Forget it! You have so much money. I wouldn't even know where to begin."
