Chapter: 931
Bethany closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep, knowing she could never win an argument with Jonathan.
Fortunately, Jayson made only one phone call and didn't continue calling.
When they arrived at the private hospital, Samira was already there, waiting for Jonathan.
She had arranged a series of thorough examinations to ensure nothing was overlooked and there were no hidden issues with his health.
Perhaps because she knew Jonathan was sensitive to such things, Samira requested a male doctor assist whenever physical contact was necessary for the examination.
Everyone felt a sense of relief when he was discharged with a clean bill of health.
“Jonathan, you're in good health! Seriously, I've been worried about you since you returned home."
It was a penetrating wound, after all. There was the risk of infection or even a minor blood clot, which could cause significant complications.
"Thank you for your hard work, Samira," Bethany said, exhaling a sigh of relief.
"It's my duty," Samira responded with a smile. "You should go back and stay with Jonathan. I'll change the dressing and remove the stitches tomorrow morning. You must be tired after the long journey."
Bethany nodded. "Okay, thank you, Samira."
She was always so polite, leaving Samira unsure how to respond.
As Bethany left the doctor's office, she suddenly remembered Jayson's call.
With Jonathan not around, she quickly returned it.
After a few moments, Jayson picked up.
"Bethany," he said simply.
“Jayson, why did you call?"
“Did Jonathan forbid you from answering my call earlier?" Jayson's tone was direct, almost confrontational.
After a moment of pause, Bethany replied, "No, I missed it. I had a lot to unpack when I got back to Wesden, and I needed to take Jonathan for his examination."
"Oh, I thought he wouldn't let you talk to me." Jayson's tone shifted from gentle to tinged with irony. "Did you know that Jonathan sealed your mother's cemetery?"
Bethany was stunned. "What?"
“Except for immediate family members, no one can go in to mourn anymore."
She was left speechless.
It was just like what Jonathan would do!
