Chapter: 945
"Well... If he stays the way he is now, then yes-I do want to spend the rest of my life with him."
Aimee gave her a heartfelt answer; there was no need for her to Lie to Bethany.
Bethany could see where her best friend was coming from. Aimee was evidently scared, worried that Nikolas might change with time, and that his sincerity might wane.
"Then just say yes, Aimee! Marriage isn't just about the ceremony or the registration; it's a long journey, and no one can predict the future. If you love each other and feel a strong connection, take the leap. What's wrong with being a little crazy for love? The worst that can happen is a divorce, but at least you would have experienced love without regrets. If you turn him down now, it might damage your relationship. Years from now, you might look back and wish you had said yes."
"Are you okay with me marrying so soon?" Aimee asked.
Bethany gave a reassuring smile. "Why wouldn't I be in favor of it? Marriage is wonderful, a cause for celebration! Why would I want to spoil your happiness?”
Aimee asked, “Bethany, is there something about Nikolas that bothers you?"
"Only if he mistreats you, then I'll have an issue."
"My cousin thought you'd be upset. He even reprimanded me, accusing me of betraying you by getting involved with a man who once backed Maddie."
Bethany took a moment to think.
That sounded exactly Like something Jayson would say.
"I'm not upset. To be honest, I don't really hold any grudges against Nikolas. I'm indifferent towards him. I recognize him as Jonathan's loyal friend who always has his back. Even though he's rebuked me a few times, I realize now it was because he felt I didn't deserve Jonathan."
Bethany considered that Aimee might react similarly if the latter were in her shoes.
"I'm glad you think so. I've been concerned about that."
"Aimee, neither you nor Jayson owe me anything. If anything, I owe you both. You don't need to worry about how I feel."
"What do you mean you owe us? Aren't we family?" Aimee chuckled.
“Well, I've got the reassurance I needed. I'll leave you be now. Get some rest. It must be nighttime over there."
Bethany slowly propped herself up on her elbow, sitting up in bed.
“If he keeps bothering me today, I'm ready to confront him.”
If her end was near, she would face it bravely.
Right after her words, Jonathan entered the hospital room, his tall frame cloaked in a dark coat, his gaze intense and dark.
"Who's on your list to confront?"
Bethany found herself at a loss for words.
He heard her!
