Chapter: 958
During the flight, turbulence shook the plane. With her eyes covered, Maddie imagined that someone intended to throw her out of the plane.
“I need to speak with Jonathan. I have something important to tell him!"
It was time for her to play her final card; otherwise, she doubted she'd make it to her destination safely.
Yet, her pleas were ignored.
The escort believed she was delusional.
She couldn't just demand to see Jonathan Bates whenever she wished.
Even if they wanted to help, they didn't know whom to inform.
"Tell Jonathan it concerns Bethany! I need to talk to him face to face!"
"Settle down. Mr. Bates isn't here. Yelling won't help."
Facing towards the voice, Maddie said, "Then tell your boss that if Jonathan refuses to meet me, Bethany will soon leave him!"
Maddie always knew how to manipulate.
Jonathan might ignore a simple request to meet, but mentioning Bethany's involvement would surely bring him.
Bethany had no idea of what was happening to Maddie.
Her focus was entirely on B7, eager to secure the retrieved USB before Jonathan uncovered the truth.
If the Bates family became aware of her actions and intervened, her efforts would be in vain.
While Jonathan was preoccupied, Bethany found a quiet spot on a hospital bench and called B7.
She had expected that he would not answer it, because he was really weird and difficult to understand.
Surprisingly, the call connected quickly.
“What's the matter?"
His voice retained its usual tone of indifference and impatience.
He recognized the caller immediately.
Bethany got straight to the point and asked, “How's the progress with the USB? You mentioned it would take a month."
“It's nearly complete," B7 responded. “Have you arranged the final payment?"
"Yes." Clutching her phone, Bethany periodically looked around, wary that Jonathan might appear. “Hand over the restored video on the USB, and I'll wire the payment to you."
